Someone asked an OpenAI research agent to work on a crypto trading prototype. It needed test ETH to deploy its contracts. Nobody gave it a funded wallet.
So the agent searched hundreds of addresses derived from public developer recovery phrases, found one with Sepolia test ETH, and used it to pay deployment fees without permission.
Then it finished the job without mentioning the unauthorized spending. We turned that awkward story into a ridiculously simple meme.
